Children schools

In 2011 the community of Kabar, a neighbourhood of Kafountine, donated a plot of land to us, where we started  to build a pre-school center for local children aged between 3 and 6 years.

The aim of this project is to contribute and improve access for elder children to primary education. The main problem was that this children were unable to attend school as they were left in charge of their younger siblings while their mothers went  to work.

In order to register a young child in our of our centers, it is compulsory to proof that all the schooling age members of the same family are already attending any other school.

Encouraging schooling, we ensure that these children and especially their families, see the importance of attending school. Besides getting this, after the infant stage, they can continue their education in the public school. This pre-school school has 3 classes, which are divided, depending on age, into courses P3, P4, & P5, depending on their age. It is run by 3 local teachers and the support of an international volunteer. The school opens between 9 a.m to 1 p.m, from October to June inclusively. Our center in Santassou, neighbourhood mainly inhabited by fishermen, follows the same working pattern as the Kabar school.
